At the end of 2023, I embarked on a project to improve my 3D modeling and texturing skills, resulting in the creation of a Sci-Fi weapon. I knew I wanted to design something Sci-Fi; after searching for the right idea, I ultimately created an organic-looking alien weapon. The model was crafted in Maya, textured in Substance Painter, and rendered in real-time using Unreal Engine 5.

This blaster utilizes large cartridges filled with Quantum Ooze—a gelatinous fuel derived from dragon blood. As it is pushed through specialized heating pipes, the ooze hardens and crystallizes before being expelled at high velocity when the trigger is pulled, causing significant burning damage at short to medium range.

The blaster is made from the skull of a Draconathus, a small alien drake species. Since each Draconathus is unique, so is every blaster. To further enhance its distinctiveness, battle shamans adorn it with various war symbols and patterns.
