In 2022, I started a personal project to refine my hand-painted texturing skills. My objective was to create a game asset for a cartoony strategy or city-building game set in a generic medieval/fantasy setting. I aimed to design something visually appealing with ample details while keeping it simple and readable, ensuring that each building's function is easily understood at a glance.
After sketching out a few ideas, I decided to create a workshop, similar to a smithy, that players could build in their city. I focused on crafting the main building with various detailed props. The most time-consuming part was meticulously hand-painting every detail into the textures, which proved to be a valuable learning experience.
Once I was satisfied with the result, I imported everything into Unity and added numerous animations and visual effects to bring the scene to life. I also designed custom shaders using the Unity Shader Graph. The model is versatile, working well in both perspective and isometric views.
